Vail, Colorado is known the world over as a premier ski resort, site of the American Ski Classic and World Cup races. But there is a summer side to Vail when the snow on mountain slopes is replaced with a blanket of wildflowers and the town blooms with
brilliant flowers which thrive in bright sunshine under Colorado blue skies. Long recognized by summer visitors for the beauty of its flowers, Vail's image has been enhanced by this high country botanic garden. Vail's lovely alpine garden is named for
Betty Ford in appreciation for her many contributions to the Vail Valley. Located in Gerald R. Ford Park at an altitude of 8,200 feet, it is the highest public alpine garden in North America and one of the highest in the world.
