"Fig. 4 shows the circuit for a mixer stage. This circuit is shown connected to a hot tank circuit where you must isolate the +12 volt supply from the gate. Where the tank circuit is at ground potential, C1 and R1 are unnecessary. The output is tuned
with a small compression trimmer capacitor. Two types of output coupling are also shown. Two types of output coupling are also shown. For convenience I usually use miniature coax (RG-174/U) to bring the vfo signal to the mixer board.
Notice that the +12 volt line is decoupled with R4, C5, and C6. This extra precaution results in greater stability, and is one of the things that provides stability in a haywire mess like that in fig 1." (not shown here) |
