Tralee exists to provide shelter and/or coordinated supportive services to victims of family violence, sexual assault, and other violent crimes;

  • to educate the community about the dynamics of family violence and sexual assault;

  • to coordinate with other agencies;

  • to recruit a diverse group of volunteers.

    VICTIMS - DOMESTIC VIOLENCE

  • A woman is battered every 12 seconds

  • More victims receive medical treatment for family violence than auto accidents, muggings, and rape combined.

  • Children from violent homes have a 1500% chance of abusing alcohol.

    VICTIMS - SEXUAL ASSAULT

  • Rape is a crime of violence...not sex.

  • A Rape occurs every 6 minutes.

  • Psychological impact on victims is the most severe of any crime.

  • In over 80%, the rapist is not a stranger.

    Specially trained volunteers are on call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to assist victims in any way possible. Victims are urged to have volunteers present as needed... any time!.
