TO LOGON TO THE NETWORK AND WINSCHOOL

 

  • When you first turn on your computer make sure to attach to the network server by logging in.  When Windows first comes up you will see a box asking for you to "Enter your network password for Microsoft Networking" you will enter:

User name - Last_First

Password - *****

(if you hit "Cancel" you will not be attached to the network and YOU WILL NOT SEE the W or X drive in E-class)

 

  • When windows comes up- Double click on the "Grades" Icon on your screen.  You will be prompted for your "class" password.  (You should enter a password for every class once you set them all up. And for security reasons you should change this password every month or so)   (Call me if you need assistance setting the passwords)

TO COPY INFORMATION FROM THE SECRETARY'S COMPUTER (YOUR STUDENT NAMES AND YOUR CLASS/SEMESTER INFORMATION TO YOUR PERSONAL GRADEBOOK)

 

  • Click on -  The "GRADES" or "E-CLASS" ICON on the desktop

  • Click on the "NEW CLASS" Button

  • Click on FILE on the menu

  • Click on IMPORT 

  • Change to the Network Drive (W or X) (W if HS X if Elem)

  • Select the setup file and hit OK

  • Click on your first period class (if you have more than one attendance roster, you will have more than one file for that period, look on your attendance rosters for the class name and you will find what each class is called)

  • You should now see your student names on your screen

  • Click on - CLASS on the menu

  • Click on - COPY FROM

  • Click on -

    • ASSIGNMENTS

    • COMMENT LIST

    • SPECIAL SCORE LIST

    • GRADING PERIODS AND OVERALL SUMMARIES

    • GRADING SCALES

    • CATEGORIES

  • Click on the SELECT FILE button

  • Select your Network Drive (X or W)

  • Select the EXAMPLE  file

  • Select what type of class (YEARLONG, 1stSemmester, or 2nd Semester, GENERWT...) it is very important to choose the correct file please write down which one that you need to use.

  • Click on OK

  • Click on the SAVE CLASS AS Button

  • Give the class a name that you will recognize (A file name cannot have spaces - for teachers that have more than 1 roster per period I would suggest a name like "FIRSTA, FIRSTB, etc...)

  • Click on the CLOSE ALL  Button

  ** Repeat for all of your classes **

TO ENTER GRADES INTO YOUR GRADE BOOK

  • Get into E-Class Grades

  • Open the file you would like to work with by clicking on the OPEN CLASS button

  • Make sure you are on your Network Drive (be extra careful if you are on a computer that is shared by another teacher -- look for the folder with your number)

  • To prepare to enter in the current six weeks grades

    • STEP ONE - "CATEGORIES"

      • Click on CLASS on the menu

      • Click on CATEGORIES

      • In the drop down box select the current six weeks

      • Setup how you would like your grades to be figured
        Example:   

  •  DESCRIPTION: Test

  •  WEIGHT: 50
     DESCRIPTION: Daily Work 
     WEIGHT: 30
     DESCRIPTION: Home Work  
     WEIGHT: 20
            Click OK

    EVERY TEACHER FIGURES THEIR CATEGORIES A LITTLE DIFFERENT - CALL ME AND I WILL HELP YOU INDIVIDUALLY.   
     

      • STEP TWO - ASSIGNMENTS

        • Clicking on the ASSIGN button

        • Type in each description and the total possible points -
             Example:   
              Chapter 7 Test    100  

    (to weight a test grade twice  - in the weight column change it to 2)

    • Enter each student's grades

    • Click on SCORE button

    • Type each student's grades in

    • After you have entered all grades tell the computer how to group the grades into Six Week Periods.

    • Click on CLASS on the menu

    • Click on GRADING PERIOD

    • Scroll down to the CURRENT SIX WEEKS

    • Type in the  beginning assignment number for that six weeks.

    • When you are finished click on the SAVE CLASS button  (Make sure that you are saving to your network drive)

    • Click on the CLOSE ALL button

    • Click on the X in the top right hand corner to close E-Class.

    Export Your Grades

    • Check for the correct Current Six Week Average
    • Click on FILE from the menu
    • Click on EXPORT TERM MARKS - Do this for each class
    • Remember if you make any changes after you export - you will need to EXPORT again.

    Other E-CLASS Hints

     

    To see different averages (fourth six weeks, 1st semester, 2nd semester etc) Click on STYLE on the menu, then SCREEN PREF  - Change it to the grading period that you would like.   

    To get a print out of your grades - Click on REPORT on the menu then GROUP REPORT   
     
     Remember to Set a PASSWORD for all of your classes - Click on CLASS on the menu, then set PASSWORD. You can use the same password for each class.
