Mrs. Cornelia Adair and Col. Charles Goodnight.  Mrs. Adair owned the J.A. ranch, which was one of the largest operations in the area. Col. Goodnight owned  part of the Palo Duro canyon where he raised cattle. He also dug the first dugout in the area for a woman to live in.
